Carter

Carter (#0142): a moorit-based CVM ram lamb born a twin (to another ram lamb) weighing 9.2lbs on 2/10/2018 to Oceana and sired by Orion. At his 60 day evaluation he had an average daily gain of .85lbs per day.  Last evaluated on 5/24 with a weight of 90.8lbs.  Carter should be expected to be an above average sized adult.

Carter’s dam, Oceana, has our top award winning Romeldale/CVM fleece at an AFD of 24 microns in 2016, producing an average of 11lbs annually. Her staple averages 4” in length, with an extremely tight hand and an Exceptionally soft handle. Carter’s sire is Orion (#0120), who has one of our top Romeldale/CVM fleeces with an AFD of 24 in 2016. He has a staple of 4” annually and shears one of our favorite and most sought after fleeces each year. He is a nice sized ram and is well behaved. I would expect Carter’s AFD to fall around 23 microns as an adult, depending on nutrition level. His fleece scored at the top in all levels except for crimp, where it was noted that he had exceptionally tight crimp.

Carter is recessively patterned – likely light badger face and swiss markings with spotting (AlbfAsm) – these would obviously have to be proved or reconsidered based on offspring. He is moorit, and his fleece will likely be a very light cream (near white) as an adult.

He is QR at codon 171.

Custer

Custer (#0157): a moorit-based CVM ram lamb born a triplet (to two other ram lambs) weighing 9.4lbs on 2/22/2018 to Oasis (#0104), sired by Orion (#0120).  At 58 days, he weighed 50.2lbs – an average daily gain of .70lbs per day – a nice gain for a triplet ram lamb. Update: on 5/24 he weighed 69.6lbs.  Custer is expected to be above average size as an adult.

Custer’s dam, Oasis, has one of our most consistent Romeldale fleeces with an AFD of 27 in 2016 as a lamb, but this was on a very high level of nutrition. Her fleece feels very soft and will be tested this coming year. She produces an average of 10.9lbs annually. Her staple averages between 3 ¼” and 3 ½” in length, with a very nice crimp and a lovely soft handle. One specific strength of Oasis’ fleece is in its consistency; it does not change at all from her front to her britch. Custer’s sire is Orion, who has one of our top Romeldale/CVM fleeces with an AFD of 24 in 2016. He has a staple of 4” annually and shears one of our favorite and most sought after fleeces each year. He is a nice sized ram and is well behaved. I would expect Custer’s AFD to fall around 24 as an adult, depending on nutrition level. His fleece scored well in all categories.

Custer is recessively patterned – likely Paddington blue and light badger face with some spotting (ApblAlbf) – these would obviously have to be proved or reconsidered based on offspring. He is moorit, and his fleece will be very light (near white) as an adult.

He is RR at codon 171.

Calvin

Calvin (#0159): a moorit-based CVM ram lamb born a single weighing 6.3lbs on 3/2/2018 to our yearling ewe, Bindy (#0131), sired by Orion (#0120). Bindy is still young and is still growing. Currently she is average sized or slightly smaller than average. Although Calvin had a lower than average birth weight, I expect Calvin to be an average sized Romeldale ram as an adult. At 67 days, he weighed 54.2lbs – an average daily gain of .71lbs per day – a nice gain for a single ram lamb from a very young mother.

Calvin’s dam, Bindy, has a lovely creamy brown moorit Romeldale/CVM fleece with an AFD of 23 in 2018 as a bred lamb. As a near yearling she produced a fleece weighing 9.8lbs with a staple averaging 4”-4 ¼”. Bindy’s fleece has really nice crimp with a nice soft luster. Calvin’s sire is Orion, who has one of our top Romeldale/CVM fleeces with an AFD of 24 in 2016. He has a staple of 4” annually and shears one of our favorite and most sought after fleeces each year. He is a nice sized ram and is well behaved. I would expect Calvin’s AFD to fall around 21 microns as an adult, depending on nutrition level. (his grandsire had a 17 micron fleece) Calvin’s fleece scored high in all categories. It was noted that his fleece was very high in luster with Very tight crimp. It is a Stunning fleece!!

Calvin is recessively patterned- likely swiss markings and light badger face with No spotting (AsmAlbf) – these would obviously have to be proven or reconsidered based on offspring. He is moorit, and his fleece will likely be a light hazelnut creamer color as an adult.

He is RR at codon 171.

Cooper

Cooper (#0165): a moorit based CVM ram lamb born a twin (to another ram lamb) weighing 9.4lbs on 3/9/2018 to our ewe, Brie (#0127), sired by Alaska (#140). Brie is an average or slightly above average sized yearling, and Alaska is a Very large yearling, so I expect Cooper to be above average in size as an adult. At 60 days he weighed 53.7lbs – an average daily gain of .74lbs per day – a nice gain for a twin ram lamb born to a very young mother.

Cooper’s dam, Brie, has a one of our light gray Romeldale/CVM fleeces with an AFD of 23 in 2018 as a bred lamb (with twins!). As a near yearling she produced a beautiful fleece weighing 9.6lbs with an average staple of 3 ½”. Her soft fleece has good luster and a really nice crimp. Cooper’s sire, Alaska, was purchased from Harvest Hill Acres in MN in 2017. He is a very large yearling ram that is really well built. His fleece has lovely crimp with a 4 ½” staple. It is very soft with an AFD of 20! He looks like a wool explosion when in full fleece. I would expect Cooper’s AFD to fall around 24 microns as an adult, depending on nutrition level. His fleece scored at the top in luster and crimp and good in length and handle.

Cooper is recessively patterned – likely swiss markings and light blue with heavy spotting (AsmAlbl) – these would obviously have to be proven or reconsidered based on offspring. He is moorit, and his fleece will likely be a light milky cream color as an adult.

He is RR at codon 171.
